Namkoong Won

Namkoong Won (born August 1, 1934) is a South Korean actor. Namkoong was born Hong Gyeong-il in 1934. He was a popular actor of the 1960s along with Shin Seong-il, Shin Young-kyun and Choi Moo-ryong. Namkoong is commonly dubbed "Gregory Peck of Korea" and regarded as the most handsome actor in Korean film history for his tall and imposing physique, ringing bass voice, and chiseled and Western image. Director Shin Sang-ok appraised his appearance that "The only Korean actor who has an international sense can compete Western actors." On the other hand, the flawless image limited his acting career.〔(‘영화계 풍운아’ 崔戊龍씨 별세 ) Munhwa Ilbo〕〔(한국의 ‘그레고리 펙’남궁원 )〕
